April 17, 2012 – PRESS SUMMARY - PENTAX RICOH IMAGING AMERICAS CORPORATION announced that the PENTAX Optio WG-2 compact digital camera, launched in March 2012, has received a 2012 TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) Award for “Best Rugged Compact Camera”. The WG-2 was selected because of its exceptional image quality and outstanding operability in harsh conditions. The camera is waterproof up to 40 feet, dustproof, coldproof, crushproof, and shock-resistant.

The Holga is a medium format 120 film toy camera, made in China, known for its low-fidelity aesthetic. The Holga’s low-cost construction and simple meniscus lens often yields pictures that display vignetting, blur, light leaks, and other distortions. The camera’s limitations have brought it a cult following among some photographers, and Holga photos have won awards and competitions in art and news photography.
Back in the days before I had the money to invest in a high-end digital SLR camera, I would spend long nights, sometimes hours at a time in the darkroom, developing that days film. I was addicted to 35 mm film, especially black and white. I clearly remember reading about the Holga on the Internet, and I just had to have one.

Jan 17, 2010 – Polaroid is bringing back the OneStep camera but it’s been completely redesigned. The new PIC 1000 will be available in a range of fun colors and use Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film for the classic white border pictures. The Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film will work with both classic and new cameras and will be offered in packs of 10 pictures. Look for the cameras and film to hit national retailers this year.
