Sony Working on New AVCHD Camcorder with Interchangeable Lens System

May 15, 2010 - Sony is developing a new AVCHD high-definition camcorder featuring an interchangeable lens system. The camcorder, which will be available this fall, will be compatible with “E Mount” interchangeable lenses developed for Sony’s newest digital still cameras (model NEX-5, NEX-3), as well as many “A Mount” interchangeable lenses used by the existing “α” DSLR camera lineup via a mount adapter. It will also be equipped with the same “Exmor” APS HD CMOS sensor used in the NEX-5 and NEX-3 models.

Feb 28, 2010 – A new addition to the active lifestyle category of cameras is the Pentax Optio W90. The W90 is waterproof to 20 feet, shockproof from up to a 4foot drop, coldproof to sub-freezing temperatures and dustproof. Designed for that rugged outdoor look, the W90 includes a woven strap with carabiner to attach it to a backpack and other outdoor gear.
Features include a 12.1MP sensor, 28-140mm wide-angle lens with optical zoom, 2.7” LCD with 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio and Digital Microscope mode with LED lighting to capture the smallest and closest macro subjects as near as 1cm from the camera. Additional features include Eye-Fi wireless SD memory card connectivity, Advanced Pixel Track Shake Reduction, Face Detection, Smile Capture and Autofocus assist lamp. The W90 will shoot 720p HD video at 30 fps and the included HDMI port allows playback on your HD TV.
The Pentax W90 will ship in April for $329.95 and an optional waterproof infrared remote control will be available at the same time for $29.95.
Sony’s New DSC-H55 and DSC-TX5 Cyber-Shot Cameras

The H55 features a 14.1MP CCD sensor, 25mm wide-angle lens with 10x optical zoom and a 3” LCD. Additional features include Sony’s Sweep Panorama technology, Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization, Smile Shutter™ and Auto modes to make it easy to get the best shot in any lighting situation.
The TX5 is the worlds thinnest and smallest certified waterproof digital still camera that features a 10.2MP “Exmor R” CMOS sensor that is also certified to be freeze proof down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit and shockproof up to a 5-foot drop. Other features include 25mm wide-angle lens with 4x optical zoom, 3” LCD touch screen display that functions even underwater, Sweep Panorama, in-camera HDR and great low light shooting capabilities. The TX5 is also dust proof making it a great choice for on-the-go.
Both cameras feature 720p HD video recording and a memory slot compatible with both Memory Stick® (PRO Duo™) and class-four and above SD/SDHC formats. Available in April, the H55 will sell for $250 and the TX5 for $350.
Samsung’s HMX-U20 and HMX-U15 Pocket-Sized Camcorders

Feb 21, 2010 – Samsung announced two new pocket-sized camcorders, the HMX-U20 and HMX-U15. Both cameras shoot 1920×1080 Full-HD video in the H.264 format and feature Hyper Digital Image Stabilization for a blur-free image. Video and still images are stored on SD/SDHC memory cards and the swing-out USB 2.0 arm makes it easy to transfer the files to your computer. The 2” LCD provides viewing for recording and you can playback videos on your HD TV using the built-in HDMI port.
One of the coolest features of Samsung’s new HMX camcorders is the time-lapse video recording. Users can program the camcorder to record at a pre-set interval of one image every 1, 5, 10 or 30 seconds.
This is especially useful for condensing extremely long events into a short, easy to-view video.
Both camcorders will be available in the spring and the HMX-20 will sell for $249.99 and the
HMX-15 for $229.99.
Samsung’s Waterproof AQ100 and Durable SL605

Feb 21, 2010 – Following the trend of active lifestyle cameras, Samsung announced the waterproof AQ100 and the durable SL605. Both cameras feature a 12MP sensor, 5x optical zoom, 2.7” LCD and Smart Auto technology. The AQ100 is waterproof up to 10 feet and features Aqua mode for optimal underwater photos and 720p HD video.
The SL605 features Samsung’s Anti Scratch Mask to protect from unwanted scratches and key areas are rubberized to protect from dust, dirt and sand. The Smart Night Mode will allow you to capture sharp, properly exposed images by automatically adjusting the power of the flash to prevent wash out of your subject.
Both cameras will be available in the spring and the AQ100 will sell for $199.99 and the SL605 for $129.99.
Sony’s New Bloggie Portable Video Cameras

Jan 17, 2010 – Sony introduced their new Bloggie™ line of portable cameras. The MHS-CM5 and MHS-PM5 capture 1080 MP4 video and 5MP still images. The pistol grip vertical design of the CM5 makes shooting more comfortable and the 2.5” flip out LCD and 5x optical zoom gets you closer to the action. The PM5 features a lens that swivels 270 degrees and has a 4x digital zoom. Both cameras are available today for $200 and $170 respectively.
