Clean Your Lenses with Cigarette Paper: by Jay McLaughlin
Posted by: | CommentsJay has found an alternative use for Rizla cigarette papers – he uses them to clean his lenses. “I’ve tried many different lens cleaning clothes, but always find they leave lint and bits of cloth behind,” he says, “Plus with a cloth, you have to make sure it’s clean. Being made of paper and always fresh, Rizlas don’t have this problem.”
Jay’s cleaning method is to take two papers and scrunch them together, then breathe on the lens in the same way you would if you were cleaning a pair of glasses. The moisture in your breath acts as a lubricant. Then wipe until clean and dry. “Rizlas are mega-absorbent and as such will leave you with a sparkly clean and dry lens in no time,” he says. “They’re extremely soft and won’t scratch your lens. In fact, they’re very similar to the commercially available lens cleaning papers.”

Go Behind-the-Scenes of Jay McLaughlin’s “Drop Outs and Cancellations” Fashion Shoot
Posted by: | CommentsJay McLaughlin, an award winning photographer located in the UK, scheduled his second fashion test shoot planned for 2010. The shoot involved two models but it didn’t go as smoothly as he had hoped. A week before the shoot one of the models contacted Jay to say she had broken up with her boyfriend and couldn’t make the shoot because she’d been crying too much! Jay managed to find a replacement but she cancelled the day before the shoot! Not feeling optimistic about finding a replacement at such late notice, he managed to find Claire Randle and Nicola Paul for the shoot.
Jay was excited about the shoot because Hasselblad UK lent him an H3DII-31 camera for the day to try out. After a very long but fun day, Jay got some really great images with the two replacement models and Leanne Bisson’s awesome make-up!
