Apple LogoSept 1, 2010PRESS SUMMARY - Apple® announced the new iPod touch®, packed with incredible new features including Apple’s stunning Retina™ display, FaceTime® video calling, HD video recording, Apple’s A4 chip, 3-axis gyro, iOS 4.1 and Game Center—all combined in the thinnest and lightest iPod touch ever. The new iPod touch features up to 40 hours of music playback and seven hours of video playback on a single battery charge.*

Apple iPod Touch“We’ve put our most advanced technology inside the new iPod touch,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Whether you’re listening to music, playing games, making FaceTime video calls, browsing the web, capturing HD video or watching TV shows and movies, the new iPod touch with its Retina display, A4 chip and 3-axis gyro is more fun than ever.”

Apple’s stunning Retina display makes everything on iPod touch look even more incredible, whether playing games, watching video, browsing the web or flicking through photos. The Retina display has 960 x 640 pixels—four times as many pixels than before. The resulting 326 pixels per inch is so dense that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels when iPod touch is held at a normal distance, making text, images and video look sharper, smoother and more realistic.

With the new front-facing camera and mic, iPod touch users can make FaceTime video calls over Wi-Fi. With just one tap of the new FaceTime app, iPod touch users can call other new iPod touch or iPhone® 4 users** to easily see what their friends are up to, share important moments like the first day of school and even show others what they are seeing by easily switching to the rear-facing camera. Photography Trainer AppAug 12, 2010PRESS SUMMARYTrailblazer Media announces the launch of the “Photography Trainer” app for iPhone and Android. The significant increase in D-SLR sales over the last several years has led to consumers looking for innovative ways to learn photography and how to use their cameras. Photography Trainer is designed to teach photographers how to operate their D-SLRs when they’re out with their cameras and taking pictures. The app is an interactive step-by-step guide on how to set the camera to capture photos with impact – users tell it the type of subject being photographed and the lighting they’re in, and the app guides them on how to set items like shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focus, etc. It helps users get out of “Auto Mode” to allow for more creative photography.

Unlike any other photography app, Photography Trainer explains in detail “why” to use a given camera setting, for example, using a fast shutter speed to freeze fast-moving action or a wide aperture to blur the background and make the subject “pop”. Over time, users learn the principles and become better photographers. The app is written and designed by full-time professional photographer, Paul Timpa, as a way to enable anyone to capture better images. It doesn’t require an internet connection so it can be used anywhere in the world while traveling. Read More→

SlideShowPro LogoJuly 8, 2010 – SlideShowPro is a popular photo and video media player that can be embedded in any web site. It’s available as an ActionScript 2 & 3 component for Flash, as a gallery extension for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and in standalone form for embedding yourself. SlideShowPro is an elegant and highly customizable utility perfect for displaying a photographers work online.

SlideShowPro Mobile on iPad and iPhone

SlideShowPro uses Flash to display images and video on your website. Since 98% of all computers already have Flash installed on them, this was the perfect technology to use. Unfortunately Flash slideshows don’t play nice with Apple’s iPhone, iTouch and iPad. This has been an ongoing issue between Apple and Adobe and the one’s caught in the middle are the users. Since most photographers love the look of an elegant Flash slideshow with smooth transitions and a user friendly interface, they have been willing to pass on the iDevice market. In my opinion this is a big mistake. As Apple’s devices gain in market share, it increases the potential audience/customer base you may be missing out on. Read More→

This is a really good short that’s been making its rounds on the internet. The movie is called “APPLE OF MY EYE” and was created by Michael Koerbel and Anna Elizabeth James. It shows a little girl and her grandfather looking through a store window at a model train. As the grandfather watches the little girl’s excitement he flashes back to when he was young playing with his own trains.

The video was completely shot and edited on the new Apple iPhone 4. They used several rigs to hold the iphone during the shooting process and then edited with the new iMovie iPhone App. The video also includes a behind-the-scenes look at its creation. Give it a look, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

Apple LogoJuly 2, 2010 – Apple released a letter to iPhone 4 users about the reported wireless reception problems some people were experiencing. Apple stated “gripping almost any mobile phone in certain ways will reduce its reception by 1 or more bars. This is true of iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, as well as many Droid, Nokia and RIM phones.” “But some users have reported that iPhone 4 can drop 4 or 5 bars when tightly held in a way which covers the black strip in the lower left corner of the metal band.” Because of this large drop some have accused the iPhone 4 of having a faulty antenna design. Apple LogoJune 21, 2010PRESS SUMMARY – On June 15th Apple and its carrier partners took pre-orders for more than 600,000 of Apple’s new iPhone 4. It was the largest number of pre-orders Apple has ever taken in a single day and was far higher than they anticipated, resulting in many order and approval system malfunctions. Many customers were turned away or abandoned the process in frustration. They apologize to everyone who encountered difficulties, and hope that they will try again or visit an Apple or carrier store once the iPhone 4 is in stock.
