The Picture a Better America Photo Contest has an interesting premise. The contest has four categories: One Bumpy Road; When We Work, Things Work; America Grows Here; Our Many Faces. The contest is looking for photographs that focus on America’s infrastructure and the people that make and grow America. Each category will have a winner that will be awarded a $250 cash prize and the winners will be announced August 2011. Entries are due by July 15, 2011. Good luck!!

Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events to keep track of photo contests and deadline dates.

Avery ChantosI am an amateur photographer who enjoys photographing a variety of subjects. There is no certain look to my portfolio. It varies from buildings, to clouds, nature and random objects. If I find something to be interesting, you can bet that I will try to photograph it.

I have been taking photos for as long as I can remember. But, late 2009 is when I started to really act on my passion. I carry a camera with me everywhere I go so that I don’t ever miss an opportunity to capture something amazing.

    Hmmmm….. http://photocontest.imakeamerica.com/content/terms-and-conditions

“LICENSE: By entering the Contest, all entrants grant an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide non-exclusive license to AEM, to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entries…….”

This raised my eyebrows, specifically “and create derivative works of the entries” which really left me saying a big “yikes”. Just a heads up and a FYI folks.

Thanks for bringing the License to our attention. As with all photo contests out there you really need to read the contest terms to make sure you are comfortable with them. Not all contests may be right for everyone.
