Sep 20, 2009 – Picwing released their app named “Print & Mail Photos”, which is the first mobile app that allows photos to be printed directly from any phone using the Android operating system.
Once the app is downloaded and linked to the users Picwing account, the user just takes a photo using the phone’s built in camera and the image is automatically sent to Picwing for printing. Picwing will then make 4”x6” prints and mail them out to the people on the user’s distribution list. If you have a GPS enabled device, the address where the photo was taken would be printed on the back. The app is a free download from the Android Market and Picwing plans start at $4.95 per month or $0.19 per print.

Picwing Launches Mobile Application to Print Photos Directly from Phone

Print photos directly from your Android powered phone, using an application powered by photo printing company Picwing. Just snap a photo using your camera phone, and the photo is printed & mailed to your friends and family on your distribution list.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sep 15, 2009 – Picwing has just released the world’s first mobile application that allows photos to be printed directly from any phone using the Android operating system. Once the mobile app is downloaded and linked to the user’s Picwing account, users of the mobile application need only take a picture using their phone’s built-in camera to have them printed – the photos are automatically sent to the Picwing service and mailed to the user’s photo distribution list. If the photo was taken from a GPS enabled device, the nearest street address of the location that the photo was taken is printed on the back of the photo.

The mobile application makes it extremely simple for users of the Picwing service to have 4”x6” photos printed and mailed to their friends and family, as they no longer need to be in front of a computer or need to copy photos from a digital camera to send prints. Edward Kim, CEO of Picwing, believes that as phones become more advanced and carry better cameras, more people will be printing photos directly from their phones.

Asked about the decision to release a photo printing application for smart-phones, such as the T-Mobile MyTouch, Kim states, “The convergence of a 3+ megapixel camera, GPS, and fast internet connectivity, all within a portable device you can take anywhere makes it ideal to be used as a photo printing device.”

The mobile application is aptly named “Print & Mail Photos” and can be downloaded for free from the Android Market.
