X-Rite Photography Contest – Color Perfectionists Unite

December 3, 2011 – PRESS SUMMARY - X-Rite, Incorporated, announces the December theme for its Color Perfectionists Unite Photo Contest. Photographers and anyone passionate about perfecting color are invited to submit original photos based on the “Celebrating Family” theme from December 1st through December 15th. Voting will take place December 16th through December 31st and the winner will be selected from the top 20 finalists determined by the number of votes for each photo.
Since the summer of 2011, monthly winners in the 2011 Color Perfectionists Unite Photo Contest series have been selected by a top professional photographer specializing in the area of photography related to each monthly theme. Each monthly winner has also been featured on the X-Rite Photo blog and has received one of X-Rite’s new display solutions – either a ColorMunki Display or an i1Display Pro – and a ColorChecker Passport, providing each winner with the ideal tools to get accurate color from their cameras and displays. We are really excited to announce a new photography contest. CurrentPhotographer.com has partnered with Talenthouse and Justin Timberlake to bring you the Photograph for Justin Timberlake: Every Second Counts photography contest.
Grammy® and Emmy® Award-winning artist Justin Timberlake’s newest movie, the action-thriller In Time, premieres October 28 in the U.S. and Canada. It’s set in a future where time is literally money, and aging stops at 25, the only way to stay alive is to earn, steal, or inherit more time. Justin plays Will Salas, who lives life a minute at a time until a windfall of time gives him access to the world of the wealthy, where he teams up with a beautiful young heiress to destroy the corrupt system. Photographers and anyone passionate about perfecting color are invited to submit original photos based on the “Back to School” theme from September 1st through the 15th.
And through the end of 2011, monthly winners are selected by a top professional photographer specializing in the area of photography related to the theme. Each monthly winner will also be featured on the X-Rite Photo blog and will receive one of X-Rite’s new display solutions – either a ColorMunki Display or an i1Display Pro – and a ColorChecker Passport, providing each winner with the ideal tools to get accurate color from their cameras and displays. “Through the ‘Color Perfectionists Unite’ photography contest, X-Rite is on the search for Color Perfectionists from around the world to show us their true colors,” said Mark Rezzonico, vice president X-Rite Photo Marketing. “And with monthly themes ranging from ‘Back to School’ and ‘Fall Colors’ to ‘Landscapes’ and ‘Celebrating Family’ we are really looking forward to seeing the images that will be submitted.”
August 24, 2011 – PRESS SUMMARY – Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) announces that entries are now being accepted into the first WPPI NYC @ PhotoPlus 16 x 20 Print Competition. Entries will be accepted from now until September 23, 2011. Categories include Wedding: Bride and Groom Together, Bride or Groom Alone and Wedding Party; and Portrait – Individual and Group.
“Print competitions have always been taken very seriously throughout WPPI’s history,” said George Varanakis, Show Director of WPPI and Publisher of Rangefinder. “And WPPI NYC wouldn’t be complete without a presentation of the best prints in Wedding and Portrait photography.”
The top-scoring prints will be displayed before 25,000 attendees at WPPI NYC @ PhotoPlus, October 27 and 28 at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. Trophies will be awarded to first-place winners who will also receive a one-year WPPI membership and a free registration with guest to WPPI 2012. Accolade points will be awarded to WPPI members for prints scoring 80 or above. A Wedding and Portrait Grand Award winner will be chosen and then recognized at the WPPI 2012 Convention and Trade Show taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV, next February.
Give it Your Best Shot – Aerial America Photo Contest
Posted by: | CommentsThe Aerial America Photo Contest is offering a grand prize of $3,000. You can enter up to 2 photographs per category for a total of 10 photographs in the contest. There are 5 categories to enter: landscapes, the locals, architecture, food and nature & animals. Photos must be uploaded to the Flickr group and geotagged in order to be eligible for this contest. A judging panel will be selected by Smithsonian Channel and entries must be submitted by September 30. Share your best photo of what America is and you could win. Good luck!!

Give it Your Best Shot – Audio/Visual

Audio/Visual is an exhibition that will feature music photography. The exhibition will be presented by the
New York Photo Festival and will be at The PowerHouse Arena October 19 to November 3. Photos can showcase music in any of its forms, from solo performances to full orchestras. Submissions are due by September 19 and there is a $25 entry fee for each three images that you wish to enter and there is no limit on the number of images you can submit. Be sure to check out the rules so you understand your obligations if your photo is chosen for the exhibition. Good luck!

We are really excited to announce a new photography contest. CurrentPhotographer.com has partnered with Talenthouse and Tiffany Shlain to bring you the “Get Creative with Filmmaker Tiffany Shlain” Photography Contest.
Tiffany Shlain, honored by Newsweek as one of the ‘Women Shaping the 21st Century’ and an award-winning filmmaker, is inviting graphic designers, photographers and illustrators to submit their artistic interpretation of the script, “Declaration of Interdependence” to be featured in her new short film. Participants must submit their entries in the form of graphics, photographs or illustrations which will be animated by Sundance Award-winning animator, Stefan Nadelamn.
The new short film “A Declaration of Interdependence” will be launched at the theatrical release of Tiffany Shlain’s feature film “Connected” in September 2011. (You can view the “Connected” trailer below for inspiration.)

Here is an excellent opportunity for the travel photographers out there. The World’s Best Travel Secrets Contest is now accepting entries of your best travel photo and tip. Tell a story or share your perspective of the world through your travels. You can submit as many entries as you like, however, each entry will require a unique account and email address. Give it Your Best Shot – Picture Sustainability

The Rainforest Alliance’s 2011 “Picture Sustainability” Photo Contest is looking for photographs that help promote the Alliance’s mission to help preserve the environment. There are five categories to enter: forest, water, wildlife, people and planet, and macro imagery. Photos can be entered through the contest’s Flickr page. The grand prize winner will receive an eco-tour for two to Guatemala. Each category prize winner will receive a FUJIFILM FinePix HS20EXR camera, case and SD card as well as a one-year Rainforest Alliance membership at the $100 level. Entries are due by October 14, 2011. Good luck!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 4 decades, I’m sure you have heard of the legendary singer-songwriter Rod Stewart. He is one of the most successful and influential performers of all time selling over 100 million records worldwide. He’s had 61 hit singles and include 31 that reached the top 10 and 6 that made it to the number 1 position like Maggie May, Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright) and Da Ya Think I’m Sexy.
Rod Stewart is inviting aspiring photographers to submit one original photograph that captures “soul” for the chance to travel to Las Vegas to photograph the legendary singer. Rod Stewart will choose the winners from all qualified submissions with special consideration for the top voted entries.
The winner will receive a photo pass to capture Rod Stewart performing his magic at one of his shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in November 2011. Travel and 2 nights’ accommodation will be provided. A selection of the winner’s photos from the performance will be featured on RodStewart.com and across Rod’s social media channels (very cool!).
