After the celebration of the Christmas party, yes I had one and there was a lot to celebrate. The virtual completion of the Healing with Photography course and an invite by the manager at the MIND centre to return in the New Year with a new selection of courses for their group.
Now it was time to sit down and assess the success of the course, where tweaks could be made and decide on the future development of business. So with that in mind and the need to concentrate without interruption of people, phones and emails, I created an inaugural day session dedicated to the well-being of Healing with Photography.
A location was needed where I wouldn’t be disturbed, yet where I could have food and drink on tap whilst being warm and comfortable. As winter has finally arrived in the UK that ruled out an outside rural location or sitting outside a café.
I considered hiring a hotel room though I was certain for a bit of background noise I would switch on the television and end up getting caught up in a programme and bang would go my productivity. In the end, a café at local garden nursery was the best idea, surrounded by beautiful fauna and sat right next to the heater.
So with a constant stream of tea, coffee, scones and lunch I sat down and created a ream of new ideas for Healing with Photography. The background noise of the customers talking was a nice hum, I could block out the individual conversations though enjoy the general chatter and feel.
By the end of the day I had designed and written two new levels of courses for Healing with Photography, a more in depth course on some of the things covered in the first and some new topics. It was a day where I was on fire, I created the new courses, and I finally sat down and worked out the running order for creating video streaming of the courses to sell online. It was good fun putting on my producer’s hat again and the content seemed to fall into place.
And since I’ve taken some time off for a Christmas break I’ve found my head buzzing with new ideas for the business and different avenues of people that my courses would be suitable for. Isn’t it always the way, you take some time to switch off and inspiration hits. Thank goodness for having a notes section on my mobile phone so I can get all the ideas down on something when I’m out for walks.

Living in the beautiful rural county of Yorkshire it was perhaps natural for Ruth to have an affinity with the countryside and its wildlife. Creativity is Ruth’s driving force finding an outlet in television & radio she worked for many years as producer for BBC & ITV.
However a love of photography and for being surrounded by nature called her to go back to her photography training and bring pleasure and joy to people through her connection with our planet.
Staying in the moment when taking her images allows her to experience the natural magnificence unfolding before her eyes. It is this moment of mediation, of gratitude, that she evocatively conveys through her images.
