This week has all been about becoming more aware of things going on around me and how I’m the one responsible for drawing them in. When you really start to become aware of synchronicity in your life, and you see things lining up this is all good. Synchronicity is what some people call coincidences. When maybe a film we have thought about suddenly appears in the television schedules or someone mentions in passing something that we have been thinking about finding out more about; these are all examples of synchronicity.
Also it’s been a case of people being in the right place to deliver a message, that I was ready to hear, that I knew all about yet I had never bothered to take action on and implement into my life.
I’ve been studying the book ‘The Success Principles’ by business coach Jack Canfield’ and I’ve had it with me as I’ve been away for a few days this week. Another book I had with me is one that a self-help coach had recommended, in one of her newsletters, by Florence Scovel Shinn. It’s very much about the law of attraction; she was perhaps one of the first people in America in the early 1900’s to start writing about how life works. For me she is quite an obscure author, not at all mainstream.
I’ve been reading her book and struggling with it a bit as parts of it are a little too religious for me, though in moments of complete relaxation the bits I need stick and the rest just flows over me. One evening I was reading a passage from the Jack Canfield book and he referenced Florence and how she had helped to change his outlook on life. I paused for a second to appreciate the synchronicity of the universe lining up. Here was a respected business coach talking about a woman who written a book that I had only just come across, a circle of life had just been made and it was a simple nod that I am on the right track and going down the right lines.
Then a few days later, I started a conversation with someone staying in the hotel, and although our conversation began about something different, it rapidly came around to talking about the law of attraction, as I was carrying with me the Francis Scovel Shinn book.
And so we start talking about the law of attraction and the power of the spoken word. And out of his wallet he takes a piece of paper on which he’s written his goals and ambitions for the next few years. He carries this around with him so that every time he opens his wallet he sees it, it puts his mind back on track of what he wants in life. It puts his mind set back into the positive and takes it away from any self-doubt any disbelief any critical voices that have been wittering away in his mind during that day. And he sat there and said to me, “You have to be brave, you have to think big and you have to be brave in life.”
And I was struck by how this person that was sitting in front of me was sent here for me to speak to in that moment. As right now I am busy ramping my life up using the law of attraction, putting business coaches in place, having accountability partners and using a daily schedule rather than a to do list that gets ignored. On top of that I am starting to really look after me better and make sure that I have moments of pure me time. It is the same old thing. When the pupil is ready the master will appear, and the master can take any form.
These words came from a well-known man who I have to confess; I thought would be cynical about these types of things, yet there he was showing up in my life to tell me, remind me, that these things all help us to move forward and are an important part of our lives. And so today as it’s the first real opportunity I have had; I have sat down and written my own list and it is now in my purse, so that whenever I open my purse, I will see my goals. And these goals are for today, tomorrow, the year and for life.
So what will you put on your list?

Living in the beautiful rural county of Yorkshire it was perhaps natural for Ruth to have an affinity with the countryside and its wildlife. Creativity is Ruth’s driving force finding an outlet in television & radio she worked for many years as producer for BBC & ITV.
However a love of photography and for being surrounded by nature called her to go back to her photography training and bring pleasure and joy to people through her connection with our planet.
Staying in the moment when taking her images allows her to experience the natural magnificence unfolding before her eyes. It is this moment of mediation, of gratitude, that she evocatively conveys through her images.
