Starting a Photogrpahy Business: Part 15 – The Blueprint

As the first few days of 2011 are upon us I have to confess that any New Year’s resolutions I have made in the past rarely last beyond a couple of weeks for me so I stopped doing them a few years ago and instead I take time throughout the year to add things into my life that help make the day flow a little easier.

Last year I started 2010 with a method that was completely new to me; and I must credit Jennifer McLean at http://www.masterworkshealing.com for these questions and putting the idea into my mind. I sat down and wrote out in detail what I wanted to happen in 2010 as if it had already happened and I focused on several key questions:

  • What do I want this year in my personal life?
  • What do I want this year for my financial life?
  • What do I want this year for my business life?
  • What do I want this year for my spiritual life?

I would read it every so often over the year to remind me what I was aiming for and reading it again just before writing this article it was uplifting to see how many of things I’d written about had materialized and in a far greater way than I could ever have expected.

As I’m stepping into 2011 and continuing to take the steps to get my online business up and running I’m realising that I need to put some coaching steps into my daily routine to help me get there. Since listening to business coach Ken Foster I have adopted some of his methods and now at the start of my day I begin by asking myself, what three things can I do to drive my business forward today? Maybe they aren’t big things; it can be small and simple like clear out emails or do some filing or maybe its make some contacts for selling my work.

And at the end of the day I’ve started writing an achievement journal; making a note of the different things I’ve done that day, I’ve found by doing this it spurs me on for the next day. Over the last year or so I have been listening to many business coaches reading their books and it feels as I stand here looking out on 2011 that I’ve got a toolbox full of different techniques that I’m ready and eager to put into action, and as I continue to invest in me by continuing to learn I’m ready to make my first footprint in the snow.

I know that these last few weeks the articles have been quite short as I’m sure we have all been so busy that sitting down to read a long article is the last thing on our minds, so normal service length will resume next week when I’m back to taking a good long look at the site, seeing just how different it is now from how I first imagined when I started doing designs, and with a gallery full of photos at the ready I’m looking at the many things that need to be tidied up before it is launched.
