A great philosopher once said that “girls just wanna’ have fun.” Okay, that was no great philosopher, but it was Cyndi Lauper, which if you grew up in the 80s, is just about as good. While I cannot speak for the girls, I do know that the rest of us sometimes want to do silly, mindless things. If you doubt me, ask how many of your friends have downloaded Angry Birds and/or Talking Tom. Enough said.
Bobblematic is precisely one of those apps.
There is no deep, dark secret here. It is just as simple as it sounds. Use the app to (almost) instantly create bobblehead simulations of your photos. I’m not sure you are going to win the Nobel Prize for this one, but you will get a few laughs from your friends.
This free app works like a charm. Simply shoot your photo with the imbedded camera or select a photo from your camera roll. Be sure to select a photo that includes faces. Click on “Use”. The app will then open its facial recognition feature. In many cases, the app does this automatically. At other times you must double click on the face and manually place the facial overlay. From there the app goes to work for you, transforming your photo into a “bobble” photo. You next screen allows you to add a caption and post to Twitter, Facebook and/or send via email. On Twitter, this is shown as a link to the photo on Bobblematic’s site. When sent via email, the image is imbedded within the text of the email.
I have found the app to be easy to use, albeit somewhat buggy. A couple of times I have created a bobblehead only to find that it copied only a piece of the face and turned it sideways. It would be nice if it could be saved without having to email it to yourself, but that’s not a big deal.
Okay, so is this app going to help you get more clients, be more productive, become a better photographer, etc.? I really doubt it. But it’s fun and sometimes we all “just wanna’ have fun.” That is if you ever get tired of launching birds at pigs. By the way, if you get bored you can make body parts other than heads bobble. Belly bobble…hip bobble… Fun!!!
All the best…Mike
