Review: Jim Richardson Takes a Look at the Epson Stylus Pro 4900 Printer

In the below video, National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson talks about his experience using the Epson Stylus Pro 4900 to produce prints for his recent “Around the World” Exhibition.

Jim Richardson traveled to nine different countries in 22 days, visiting places like the Taj Mahal, Luxor Temple, Machu Pichu, Easter Island, Australia, and Samoa. During his travels he captured amazing images, so he needed a printer with the ability to produce prints with different color scenes with incredible sharpness, saturated colors and true-to-life skin tones. Jim notes the Epson Stylus Pro was the logical choice, because not only was it able to produce prints with a high color gamut, but it also allowed for speed and convenience, especially when printing panoramic images with the roll paper feeder. March 13, 2010 - Answering the demand for large format prints in the photographic, proofing and graphic arts markets, Canon unveiled three new imagePROGRAF large format printers this week at WPPI including the 44” iPF8300, the 24” iPF6350 and the iPF6300. Designed for precise, ultra high-quality print performance and increased productivity, each model features Canon’s new 12-Color LUCIA EX pigment ink set and advanced printing technologies specifically developed to produce prints with an enhanced color range and improved durability.
All three printers will start shipping this month for an MSRP of $5,995 for the iPF8300, $3,995 for the iPF6350 and $3,695 for the iPF6300.
Epson Wins Four 2010 “Hot One” Awards

Feb 28, 2010 – Professional Photographer magazine awarded Epson with four “2010 Hot One Awards”. The awards represent the photography industry’s best and most innovative products for professional applications. The products awarded are the Epson Stylus Pro 3880 printer, Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner, P-7000 Multimedia Photo Viewer and the Artisan 810 all-in-one.
Just as a side note, I purchased the Artisan 810 at the end of 2009 and can say it’s worthy of the award. Look for my full review in the near future at CurrentPhotographer.com. Read More→
