Aug 23, 2009 – The Canon PowerShot award winning G-series cameras have been the walk-around camera of choice for professional photographers for years. The G9 made a huge impact in the industry but the G10 received slightly less enthusiasm. Hopefully the G11’s 10 MP High Sensitivity capture system, combined with its 28mm 5x optical zoom with Optical Image Stabilization, its easy access to heavily used functions, the ability to shoot in RAW + JPEG and a host of optional accessories will help to bring the G-series back as the camera of choice. Probably the most notable new feature of the G11 is the 2.8” vari-angle PureColor System LCD. The screen actually pops out from the back and swivels to allow easier on-camera previewing and reviewing of images from nearly every angle. Look for the G11 in October for an estimated price of $499.99.
