We have mentioned 365 photo projects in the past but a 52 project might be more suited to your work-flow.
What to share
Really your photo of the week needs to be more considered than a Instagram or iPhone snap as it has to showcase your talents as a photographer in the best way possible. In order for your photo of the week to be an effective marketing tool then they need to be one of two things:
- Showcasing your style
- Showcasing a new style, subject or direction you want your photography to take.
Think about each image as an individual advertisement for your business.
- Does the image tell the viewer enough about you and your work?
- Is the image typical of the sort of work you produce? If not is it typical of the work you want to produce? For example: All images in black and white or posed in a certain way.
- Is the image interesting enough that your target audience will want to share or comment?
You might even consider introducing a theme that either runs month by month or for an entire year. Whilst this can help you in your image selection process don’t let it dominate the process as a whole.
After you have selected your ‘loaded’ image then think about what text you would like to accompany it. Clients probably aren’t interested in what shutter speed you used (unless you are aiming at photographers) so talk about the image as you would to a client. Describe the context and the experience and share links to other relevant images.
Where to share
Ideally these types of images are best shared in your blog but that doesn’t mean you can’t mirror the content on a Facebook page as well.
As with all blog posts you should be sharing your posts on at least 5 different social media platforms
It is important to remember that this is a vehicle for promoting your photography. You are sharing the best of your best so it doesn’t have to be images you took in the last week.
This campaign will also help you be more selective in the images you display on your website and as physical products so it does also have that added benefit.
