May 22, 2010 – iStockPhoto announced a new plug-in that puts more than six million photos and illustrations at the fingertips of Microsoft Office users. The plug-in is available for free and allows users to access iStockPhoto images from within PowerPoint and Word, where they can select, preview, purchase and insert images directly into their documents.
The plug-in will add an iStockphoto tab to both PowerPoint and Word. From there, users can take advantage of iStockphoto’s powerful search engine to browse photos and illustrations. Those new to iStock can set up an account and buy credits to purchase images. Current customers can log into their accounts and access all the standard functionality of the iStock website. They can also make purchases using their existing credits all without leaving PowerPoint or Word.
This is great news for iStockers. With the millions or billions of PowerPoint and Word users out there, the potential audience that may search and find your images has just greatly increased. Presenters are starting to understand that well-chosen, high-quality imagery can turn a mediocre presentation into a remarkable one. Hopefully this new plug-in will make it so easy and convenient to search for and purchase the perfect images, that it will deter users from searching Google Images and “borrowing” them without permission.
Below is a demo video showing how the plug-in works and here is a link to download the Microsoft Office plug-in.
