I recently reviewed an app that allows you to easily do panoramic photos. But what do you call a pano on steroids? Our friends at Microsoft call it Photosynth. I call it super cool!
Photosynth allows you to (easily) take a series of photos using your iPhone. The app then stitches them together to create one awesome pano of your shots. Here’s the cool part…You don’t have to start on the far left side and then shoot the next one and…You simply take a shot. Move the device until the box shows a green outline and it will automatically load that data. Repeat all over the scene until you have your shot. At that point you simply click “Finish” and your pano is stitched. You may then view by scrolling on the iPhone or click “Share” to send to Facebook, publish to Bing Maps, or upload to Photosynth.net. It also saves a copy in your camera roll.
This is one of those apps with which I have only scratched the surface of its usefulness. I’d encourage you to check it out. And kudos to the folks at Microsoft for this one. Job well done!
I just wish I had it when I was at Zion National Park in March. An excuse for another trip? Perhaps…
All the best…Mike
