July 8, 2010 – SlideShowPro is a popular photo and video media player that can be embedded in any web site. It’s available as an ActionScript 2 & 3 component for Flash, as a gallery extension for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and in standalone form for embedding yourself. SlideShowPro is an elegant and highly customizable utility perfect for displaying a photographers work online.
SlideShowPro uses Flash to display images and video on your website. Since 98% of all computers already have Flash installed on them, this was the perfect technology to use. Unfortunately Flash slideshows don’t play nice with Apple’s iPhone, iTouch and iPad. This has been an ongoing issue between Apple and Adobe and the one’s caught in the middle are the users. Fortunately the developers at Dominey Design, the creators of SlideShowPro, saw this issue and addressed it with their soon to be released SlideShowPro Mobile. It’s an entirely new media player built using HTML 5 that doesn’t require the Flash Player plugin and can serve as a fallback for users accessing your websites using Apple’s devices. SlideShowPro Mobile has been specially designed for touch interfaces and smaller screen sizes and looks more like a native application that’s easy to use.
Since SlideShowPro Director publishes the mobile content, you’ll be able to provide the mobile alternative by simply updating the Flash Player embed code in you HTML documents. With Director behind the scenes, all your photos will be published for the target dimensions of the devices, giving your users the best image quality. The mobile player will load whatever content is assigned to the Flash version, so the same content will be accessible to any browser.
