If you have looked on the Android Market you have probably noticed that there are many photo apps out there. Some are free, some are available for a small fee. I lucked out on PicSay and was able to obtain the Pro Version via the Amazon Android Marketplace as a free app of the day a couple weeks back. I have not used it very much but have used the non-pro (read free) version to some extent. The app has a number of cool features, some useful and some just plain fun. Lets talk about a few of them.
PicSay works off of the photo albums already in your phone. It does not take pictures, but allows you to edit and manipulate them in cool and interesting ways. Luckily, we have four cats (thats right!) that are happy to be the subject of many pictures. I can usually catch them doing weird or interesting things just because none of them are alike. They agreed to help me with this article in exchange for catnip and treats…boy are they easy to please.
Gris, our only female cat likes to wear plastic Walmart bags (no joke)…and I have often wondered what she thinks when she has them on. Using the Word Balloon function on PicSay gives you a number of options such as font, color, balloon shape and type and placement. Its very easy to type what you want to say, tweak the appearance of the balloon, then save to your phone, and export it to facebook, email, etc. Of course we all know animals don’t talk, but now very easily on your phone you can make them talk or think what you like.
With an app called PicSay you would think that is all it can do but thats simply not true. For our next example, I used one of the many photo effects available in the app. This one is called Pop and im sure you can see why.
For this photo, I wiped the right half with my finger on the touch screen to pop out the colors leaving the other side black and white. Pretty neat I think. The photo effects section of the app is by far the most lengthy with effects such as, but not limited to: paint, distort, color adjustments, artistic effects, photo effects, filters/frames, and many more. You can also use this section of the app to edit the photo in general by adjusting the exposure, contrast, etc.
One of the most fun areas of PicSay is the sticker section. Our youngest cat PP (don’t ask) always wanted to be a pirate and now he can be. There are a large number of options in stickers including hats, glasses, eyes, and so forth. So you can experiment to your hearts content.
You can also add titles to your photos as seen above with PP singing. Titles are handy for any number of uses on your photos.
The cats are happy and all agree its now chow time. Hopefully you can see from my review that PicSay is a good photo editing app that anyone can use and also have a use for. You can easily edit your photos using the four main functions: word balloons, titles, stickers, or effects and share them with your friends or just save to your phone for your own personal use. I hope this article has been useful to you and you will keep reading my future ones to come. Thanks to all of you for reading!
