Sony introduced three new Alpha DSLR cameras today aimed at the first-time DSLR buyer. The 14.2 MP A380, 10.2 MP A330 and 10.2 MP A230 are smaller, lighter and easier to use as compared to other DSLRs making them perfect for the user upgrading from a point-and-shoot. The cameras come with a 2.7” LCD screen and on the A380 and A330 models, it tilts up and down making it easier to frame your subject in high or low positions. Additionally the A380 and A330 offer Sony’s Quick Autofocus (AF) Live View technology, so you can frame photos using the camera’s LCD screen.

All three cameras will be offered in body/lens kits. The single lens kit will include Sony’s new 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 zoom lens and will cost about $850 for the A380, $650 for the A330 and $550 for the A230. The two lens kit will come with the above 18-55mm lens and their new DT 55-200mm F/4-5.6 telephoto zoom lens and will sell for $1050 for the A380, $850 for the A330 and $750 for the A230. In addition to the three new bodies and two new kit lenses, Sony introduced a DT 50mm F/1.8 portrait lens, a DT 30mm F/2.8 macro lens and a new external flash unit.
These new cameras should prove to be a nice addition to Sony’s DSLR line-up and give consumers another option in this entry level market.
