April 23, 2010 – Photo-sharing service Jalbum.net announced a new collaboration with my friend and world-renowned photographer Jack Hollingsworth. Together they’ve created a series of photo shoot events geared around a specific theme. Jack will lead and tutor the Jalbum community of photography enthusiasts in these events with the first theme being Close-up photography followed by Portraits, Street, Urbex and HDR photography. Each theme will be introduced in a blog post and will also have a competition element and a user group on Jalbum.net where anyone can participate.

Jalbum is also releasing a new gallery template designed by Jack’s team. The gallery template geared towards pro photographers includes YouTube and Vimeo integration, smooth transitions and a slide show option. The template will be available for download and use on any web site. Read More→

Go Behind-the-Scenes of "The Rock Climber" with Photographer Simon Carter

Simon Carter is a professional outdoors photographer recognised internationally for his distinctive rock climbing photography. Named by Men’s Journal Magazine (USA) as one of the World’s Best Adventure Photographers, Simon has worked professionally for 16 years and in the process has travelled widely and built up one of the best and largest collections of unique climbing imagery in the world.

Nikon Professional Services wanted to produce videos highlighting the work of some Australian photographers. They got in touch with Simon to see if he wanted to work with them on their first video which would be shot entirely on the new Nikon D3s camera. Of course he said yes and below is the 2 minute feature they came up with called “The Rock Climber”.

The second video is a longer behind-the-scenes look at Simon’s set up and what went in to capturing some of the footage and stills. He also talks a bit about climbing photography and some of the techniques used.
