Apple Announces The New iPad

March 8, 2012 – PRESS SUMMARY – Apple® announced the new iPad®, the third generation of its category defining mobile device, featuring a stunning new Retina™ display, Apple’s new A5X chip with quad-core graphics and a 5 megapixel iSight® camera with advanced optics for capturing amazing photos and 1080p HD video. iPad with Wi-Fi + 4G connects to fast networks worldwide, including AT&T’s and Verizon’s 4G LTE networks, and still delivers the same all-day 10 hour battery life* while remaining amazingly thin and light. Beginning today, iPad 2 will be offered at an even more affordable price starting at just $399.

The new iPad’s Retina display delivers four times the number of pixels of iPad 2, so dense that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels when held at a normal distance, making web pages, text, images and video look incredibly sharp and realistic. The 3.1 million pixels in the Retina display are more than one million more pixels than an HD TV, and with 44 percent increased color saturation the new iPad displays colors that are unbelievably richer, deeper and more vivid. Movies are now capable of playing at full 1080p HD-resolution, delivering an incomparable viewing experience on a mobile device. Read More→

Experience the Phenomenon that is Camera+

I try to keep a pretty close watch on photography-related iPhone apps. This one burst onto the scene when I read on MacRumors.com that a newly updated iPhone app had sold 78,000 units on Christmas day alone. Wow! That’s enough to get your attention! I just had to check it out.

So after an investment of 99 cents I am the proud owner of Camera+. Keep in mind that there is another popular iPhone app called Camera Plus. This review is for Camera+.

This app is simple to use and packed with features. Where to start? Let’s begin with the features related to the actual camera itself. Some of these features have to be turned on in the menu, but this is easy to do. One of the best features is that zoom bar on the right of the screen. A right-handed person like me can use his thumb to zoom up to 6x. You can also turn on a grid to help with composition and keeping your camera straight. You can push the little gear button to reveal the following choices: Normal, Stabilizer, Timer, and Burst. It’s a little funny that if you select Stabilizer, it will tell you to “hold steady to take photo”. If I could hold it steady I wouldn’t need the stabilizer…Actually, it won’t take until you hold it still. Cool features on the camera. But wait…there’s more! Read More→

Over 300,000 iPads Sold in the First Day

Apple LogoApril 5, 2010 – Apple today announced that it sold over 300,000 iPads in the US as of midnight Saturday, April 3. The sales include deliveries of pre-ordered iPads, deliveries to partners and sales at the Apple Retail Stores. Apple also announced that iPad users downloaded over one million apps from Apple’s App Store and over 250,000 ebooks from its new iBookstore during the first day. These are impressive numbers after only one day. I know there are a lot of people that waited or pre-ordered the 3G model iPad so I’m sure those numbers will sky rocket by the end of the month.
